Amber Midthunder’s star continues to rise with her new movie Novocaine. The action movie following a man with a medical condition who cannot feel pain, going on a mission to rescue his girlfriend (played by Midthunder), after she is kidnapped by bank robbers. The film also features Jack Quaid and is directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. It is a high paced action thriller in the vein of John Wick and Die Hard.
Amber Midthunder is an Indigenous actress from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation who has acted in numerous film and TV shows. She is best known for her role as Naru in Prey, a prequel to the Predator franchise. She can also be seen in Reservation Dogs, Legion, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Rez Ball. She also has a few upcoming projects such as the Native drama Brave and the action movie The Painter. Midthunder is one of the more prominent Native actors working in the film industry.
With Novocaine, Amber Midthunder continues her streak of action-oriented features. She is no stranger to fight choreography and action scenes, having worked on Prey and even did some martial arts stunts for her role as Kerry on Marvel’s Legion series. Midthunder’s body of work keeps expanding and seems to be crossing over into the mainstream media. Hopefully this will open doors for more Indigenous People in the film industry.
Novocaine is scheduled to be released in March of 2025.
